Why does my HPX-200 antenna take a long time to acquire GPS signal on first startup?
Modern GPS receivers store several days worth of almanac data**, which helps to speed acquisition by predicting where to search for the satellites.
The first time you activate your HPX-200 antenna, it may require up to 45 minutes to build the almanac. This may also happen if the antenna is unused for a long period of time.
**Almanac Data describes the orbital courses of the satellites. Every satellite will broadcast almanac data for each satellite. Almanac data includes a set of parameters for each GPS satellite that can be used to calculate its approximate location in orbit.
